Oil
David has been drawing and painting since a small child..   He is self taught and has always regarded art as a wonderful source of enjoyment and entertainment.   Since retiring from his teaching post in a University, he has been more active in developing his interest and exhibiting his work.

David is based in Cheam, Surrey and is a member of Croydon Art Society and the Dorking Group of Artists.   He works in oils, watercolour and pastels.   He particularly enjoys working outside on location. ‘plein air’, working at speed to capture the fleeting effects of changing light ,colour and tone.   He favours an impressionistic figurative style.   Since he lives close to the areas of outstanding natural beauty in the Surrey Hills he often uses these as subjects.   Also he has created a large portfolio of seascapes from frequent visits to Dorset, Cornwall and Pembrokeshire.   Recently he has been working on studies of London.
David exhibits frequently with the Croydon and Dorking groups.
Also he has held solo exhibitions and has won awards for his oil paintings.   His work is held in private collections in the UK and overseas.
